TEA Party a Success in SPITE of Weather!

Approximately 250 people came - some in strollers and some using canes - in cold, drizzly (early) weather, walked through mud to get there, but enthusiasm was not lacking. (Oddly enough, none of them looked like right-wing extremists and all looked like the real deal - grass roots - not astro-turf types.) Signs of all types - see below - expressed the frustration of attendees with the way our government's spending has run amok. Anyone with pictures to share, please email to smlteaparty@aol.com.

Our eternal thanks to Floyd Enterprises, Inc., especially Gerry Hachmann, Bill Berry, Joe Byron, Don Winter, Olivia Tarvis, Kathie and Phil Floyd. Many thanks to Grand Furniture for allowing the use of their parking lot and to Lee Arnold (Smith Mountain Yacht Club) for use of a much-less-muddy field than our originally planned one. And thanks to David Fallwell for his contribution of bottled water.

Partial agenda and information is on the right. If you didn't get to hear it all first-hand, please read all the way to the bottom. It's long, but it's a skinny column! ;)

Two great voices - Carmel Vaden and Charles Poindexter - singing "God Bless America" at the end of the Tea Party.
My most humble apologies for being so delinquent in posting the results, but I've been preoccupied with family matters.
